haiz.. after the discussion abt peace, the Myanmar strikes, chiangrai... feels quite sad abt life.
i agree with chewsy... dun noe if we did help the ple in chiangrai..perhaps we introduced too much of our (unfortunately... superficial n extravagant) culture. perhaps coz of too many supposed volunteers at the village, they began to b more developed. ple start having tv, fridge, handfone. but..is tat really necessary? do u really need TV at home? it merely fuels the global warming issue and..nt like they learn a lot frm tv. true tat ple can hang ard n socialise while watching tv, but..imagine, if every1 has a tv set at home, who will b gg over to ur hse to watch? n..where is the socialising? plus..won't it cause dissatisfaction? ple will become jealous of each other's wealth. if jealousy is strong enuf, might it cause them to seek illegal means to increase their wealth. and..isnt that a lot like the current state in our society, except tat we dun use illegal means? Imagine, chiang rai, a currently underdeveloped country now, becoming a second singapore in 10 years time? wow... think of the kids. going through our kind of education. suffering frm our kind of stress. when in fact, they were really happy now. sufficient time to play, interact, enjoy their childhood, and they really benefit frm their education.
thinking of the poor ple in myanmar. that kind of government. heartless and cruel. seriously, we might have helped more ple if we had been to myanmar than thailand. they prob needed more help. but then again, we will b introducing our culture. haiz..really troubled.
to help or nt to help?

omg. first time see u so serious!
Zhen Ji, ignorance is not virtue. This means that we cannot try to hide something from someone, so that the person can never 'go bad'.
If you realize, this is what many parents are doing. They don't let their children do this or that, go here or there, go out with this or that particular friend so that they will not have a chance to be negatively exposed or influenced. But, is that the right way? Who can hide things forever? Eventually, the child will find out thru his/her own curiosity. And once he/she finds out bout the things that e parents have been trying to hide, the more they will be tempted to try such and such a 'forbidden thing'.
So, the key is not to hide, because we can never hide forever. Ignorance doesn't make us good, but merely ignorant of the negative environment. The repercussion is that that someone who is once ignorant about something that has been hidden from him for years, he/she will be drowned in that discovery, because he/she is never taught on how to handle or face such 'negative things'.
In a nutshell, the best way is not to hide, but to educate and cultivate the right value system. Coz our value system will shape our character and personality, determining who we are and what we do...
